Enforce Tac – quality or quantity? (OPEWI debate)

Some lessons learned from our “European defence acquisition strategy” event:
1/ It is not because certain military equipment have only one usage that they are not relevant for nations’ specific needs.
2/ Multi-usage across all contingencies (climate, urban tensions, conventional combat, deterrence) remains a strong argument in favor of a defence programme, given budgetary constraints. Drones emerge as low cost and very flexible solutions in that regard.
3/ Europeans need to come up with their own acquisition criterias and hierarchy, which differ from American choices and culture. The EU can play a role here, as NATO is very influenced by US doctrinal principles.
